Podoplanin is a 40 kDa, transmembrane, oncofetal, O linked sialoglycoprotein （mucin type） found on lymphatic endothelium, mesothelium and fetal testis, , but not in microvascular endothelial cells. Podoplanin is selectively expressed in normal and malignant lymphatic endothelium, including Kaposi's sarcomas.
